Cinnamon Crispies

2/29/2012

If you make this easy pie crust recipe, you probably will have some leftover dough. Instead of throwing it away or eating it while standing over the kitchen sink (no one does this, right? Right?), I suggest you make cinnamon crispies. This recipe is from my childhood. My parents would make these with any leftover pie dough or sometimes even make a batch of pie dough just for cinnamon crispies. Watch out, they're addicting. You can make these while your pie is baking and have it for another dessert or a very indulgent breakfast.

Combine the scraps and roll out.

Spread softened butter over the dough, and sprinkle a generous amount of cinnamon sugar over the butter.

Roll up the dough.

Cut into a few large pieces (depending on how much dough you have). Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes until browned, and let cool before eating.

When I was little, my Grandma used to give me her extra pie dough with some butter, cinnamon, and sugar. She would show me how to roll them. I loved these! Thanks for bringing back a great memory! I just found your blog through Tasty Kitchen and I will return many times!

     Welcome!

Cooking is fun and easy at high altitude, but baking can be frustrating. About 90% of my recipes work everywhere, but some are adjusted so us mountain dwellers can enjoy baked goods from scratch. I hope you find great recipes on here for your family, and I'll let you know if any are adjusted for high altitude.
